Microsoft Word is the most commonly used word processing software program in the world. Most likely, you use it on your computer regularly, yet you may have never really learned how to use it properly. This workshop is aimed at helping you to feel more comfortable using Word by addressing some of its most common and useful functions.

This workshop is the first of three Microsoft Word workshops and is designed to lay down the foundations that many regular users of Microsoft Office Word are not aware of.

Topics addressed include:

  • Understanding the Microsoft Word screen and navigating around it
  • Different Views of Word documents
  • The Toolbar – Commonly used buttons and functions
  • Editing text using a keyboard, mouse and shortcut
  • Spelling and grammar correction
  • Understanding text formatting – how to, and formatting options
  • Using Format Painter
  • The rulers, tab markers and indent markers
  • First line and hanging indents and paragraph formatting options
  • Page formatting, paper size, orientation, margins etc
  • Centering and other alignment
  • Line spacing
  • Bullets and numbering
  • How to create and edited numbers lists
  • Using various symbols as bullets and changing spacing
  • Borders, shadow and internal shading

This course is designed to be part of  a series called “Microsoft Office Series.”

Workshop Outcomes:

At the completion of this course, students will have a basic understanding of the principals of using a word processing document including navigating around the document, formatting the document and working with text with many tips and shortcuts to help you create a stylish document faster and with more functionality.

    Formatting Microsoft Word Document
    At the completion of this course, students will have a basic understanding of the principals of using a word processing document including navigating around the document, formatting the document and working with text with many tips and shortcuts to help you create a stylish document faster and with more functionality.

    Practical - Develop a Short Report to Expected Business Standards
    At the completion of this course, students will have a basic understanding of the principals of using a word processing document including navigating around the document, formatting the document and working with text with many tips and shortcuts to help you create a stylish document faster and with more functionality.
