This workshop provides the opportunity for the RTO to develop a consistent and planned approach to systematic validation of assessment practices and judgements across all of the training products on its scope of registration. This will include specific approaches for determining a statistically valid sample of assessments that accurately reflect the number of students that have been assessed.

The process of systematic validation of assessments will be demonstrated through a series of practical assessment activities that enable participants to progress through pre-assessment and post-assessment practices and judgements and discover opportunities to improve.

Workshop Outcomes:

  • Determining an appropriate planned approach to validation through assessment of the ‘relative risks’ of training products on scope
  • Conducting pre-assessment validation of assessments to ensure they comply with the assessment requirements of the relevant training package or VET accredited course and satisfy the Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence
  • Conducting post-assessment validation of the assessment evidence and judgement made by an assessor to ensure it satisfies the Rules of Evidence
